With Jeff Mills and Tony Allen we’ve billed two rhythm pioneers at Pukkelpop this year. Producer/DJ Jeff Mills was one of the progenitors of Detroit techno. Drummer Tony Allen played a pivotal role in the creation of the sound of Fela Kuti and the afrobeat. During live shows they like to improvise, switching effortlessly from past to present, from digital to analogue and from jazz to techno, but always in perfect time.
